They will be able to feel the explosion of air on their finger as they make the sound. In this story Peter pops popcorn and he explores it with his senses — hearing, seeing, feeling, and smelling it. As you read the book help the child point to the “p” letters that are part of the illustrations and read them by producing the /p/ sound. It is a great book for beginning of the year units in classrooms when children are learning about themselves.
